Want to discover and release the things that are holding you back from reaching your full potential?
Learn how I can help you change your life and find health, balance and wellness.
I just learned about an interesting healing method called The Bars through Access Consciousness. There are 32 Bars of energy that run through your head, each corresponding to a different area of life, like Money, Control, Creativity, Body, Awareness, and many more. Holding these points on the head releases energy and begins to unravel where you are functioning from autopilot instead of awareness, and can help release destructive behavior patterns, past hurts, losses and fears.
Knowing what I know from Health Kinesiology and energy work, The Bars sounded very interesting to me, both on a personal level and as something to offer to clients along with Health Kinesiology and Reconnective Healing.
There will be a training class in West Seattle this coming Sunday, July 29th, and there is still space available. I have no connection to the class, other than the fact that I just signed up to take it. Would you like to join me? For more information, please contact the facilitator, Danielle, at Essential Jade.
I'll check in next week to let you know about my class experience and how I might be able to help clients with this interesting new work!
I've been having a repeating conversation lately with my Health Kinesiology clients and my friends about events and issues that are stressing them out - problems with their jobs, relationships, money, health, etc. While a personalized Health Kinesiology session would be helpful in these situations to deal with the exact issues and how they affect your body, there is a simple HK technique that you can do on your own called Emotional Stress Release, or ESR.
I've done a number of ESR corrections on clients in sessions and shown people how to do it, but I discovered a video online that explains and demonstrates the technique, and I wanted to share it here:
I usually suggest that you think about the issue that's stressful, and explore it as vividly as possible while holding the ESR points, and rate it on a scale of 0 to 10 (where "0" is no stress and "10" is the most stressful it could possibly be). Hold the points as shown in the video until the number reduces at least a few points. Sometimes that can be 10 minutes or longer. This can be repeated again at another time to continue reducing the 0-10 rating until the issue is far less stressful to you.
You can also have someone else hold the acupuncture points for you (or do this for a friend or family member).
Please let me know if you try this, and what your experience is with it. Clients have found it to be very helpful in dealing with job interviews, tests, and temporary stressful situations. If you find that the stress continues, you may consider booking an appointment to look into other causes and how we may correct them.
This is one of the most powerful videos I've ever seen and immediately knew that it was something I wanted to share with all of you. Thanks to life coach Andrea Owen for letting me know about it and introducing me to Brené Brown.
This is a part of the description of the YouTube video to explain:
Dr. Brené Brown is a researcher professor at the University of Houston, Graduate College of Social Work, where she has spent the past ten years studying a concept that she calls Wholeheartedness, posing the questions: How do we engage in our lives from a place of authenticity and worthiness? How do we cultivate the courage, compassion, and connection that we need to embrace our imperfections and to recognize that we are enough -- that we are worthy of love, belonging and joy?
The video is 20 minutes long, which I know in today's fast-paced, social media world is long. But you owe it to yourself to listen to this. You are absolutely worthy enough to spend that 20 minutes on yourself.
I would love to hear how and if this video speaks to you. Please share!
I just saw an interesting trailer for a film called Hungry For Change, from the producers/directors of Food Matters, which you may have heard of. I really support the notion of food being very powerful and being a vital part of our wellness and balance. This movie looks to discuss the diet and health industry and the lies that we are being told about what we allegedly nourish ourselves with in terms of food.
The trailer appears below, and you can then go to the Hungry for Change website to sign up for a link to view the entire movie for free from March 21 through March 31, 2012. From the website:

Normally I just cheat and buy pre-cut chunks of butternut squash from Trader Joe's. But it costs a heck of a lot more than a whole one. But I have never been able to figure out how to cut it without killing myself. Thanks to the wonders of Google, I found this wonderful video that helped immensely. It was still hard to cut, and I'll probably go back to pre-cut, but this woman's video (found here) made me feel much more secure about my technique. Now I just have to do something about my knife technique in general, which a chef at a cooking class recently said frightened her. :)
I wanted to share information about a free screening (10/28 in Seattle, but also in various cities nationwide throughout the rest of the year) of the movie Forks Over Knives.
I had not heard of this movie previously before seeing this event posted on Facebook, but it looks interesting. From the Forks Over Knives website:
The feature film Forks Over Knives examines the profound claim that most, if not all, of the degenerative diseases that afflict us can be controlled, or even reversed, by rejecting our present menu of animal-based and processed foods.
Here is the movie trailer:
While I personally am making these types of changes to my diet, I just wanted to clarify that I do not insist that my clients do so as well. The beauty of Health Kinesiology is that we can fine tune health suggestions such as diet on an individual basis, and what works for one person may not be ideal for another, and you may not even need to make any changes. However, since I do focus on health and wellness in general, I hoped that the concept might be interesting for you to learn about, even if you do not agree or follow it in practice. And a free movie is always good. I'm sorry I'll be missing it as I'll be travelling for class that day.
The movie screening in Seattle will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the Regal Meridian Theatre (#4), 1501 Seventh Avenue, in downtown Seattle. Tickets are free. RSVP by calling 425-957-6726 or by emailing [email protected] . Click here for screenings in other cities.
If you attend, I hope you'll come back and share your thoughts about it in the comments.
Deep peace of the running wave to you, Deep peace of the flowing air to you, Deep peace of the quiet earth to you, Deep peace of the shining stars to you, Deep peace of the gentle night to you, Moon and stars for their healing light on you, Deep peace to you.
I'm not sure who wrote those lyrics as I've seen them attributed to many different people on the internet. I saw this video this morning on a friend's Facebook post and just knew that I wanted to share this, so that you could all experience the same moment of Deep Peace that I did upon listening to this. Enjoy!
Fascinating animated video from Professor Philip Zimbardo conveying how our individual perspectives of time affect our work, health and well-being. He says that time influences who we are as a person, how we view relationships and how we act in the world.
When I first started watching it, I had a very definite idea of which "time zone" I lived in (as defined by the video), but as it went on, I realized that it definitely wasn't as cut and dry as that, and it really made me think about how I look at the world, and how much of that is influenced by my surroundings, upbringing, family, etc.
How does watching this change your own perspective on yourself and your "time zone"? Is it possible to change your "time zone" to make it reflect more of the person you would like to be?
Charlie Thistle has worked 20 years at the Department of Normality. One
gray day fades into the next until one night he wrestles with the
question, "Is this the way things were meant to be?"
I receive DVDs each month from Spiritual Cinema Circle. To borrow words from their website, each DVDs". . . includes a mixture of features, shorts and
documentaries that explore spirit, spirituality, existence, morality,
compassion, the power of the mind, metaphysics and other enriching
topics that take your personal journey further."
Here is a link to a short movie called Charlie Thistle, as described above. The link will ask you to sign up for their service. There is no obligation to do so in order to watch the film, nor do I get any incentive for passing this information on to you. I am sharing it because I thought it was an interesting, short film about what can happen when we step outside of our comfort zone. I also love the films I receive each month from Spiritual Cinema Circle and would recommend checking it out. If you're a person who enjoys what I share here on my blog, you might enjoy this as well.
I've always been a person that others have described as "marching to the beat of a different drummer." I think it's part of living in integrity to follow your own path. And once you do, it's hard to go back to "normal" - or others' perception of what is allegedly normal. Charlie Thistle's experience echoes this as well.
Hope you enjoy the film. Let me know what you think of it.
