I don't remember how I found this blog post, but Regrets of the Dying on the Inspiration and Chai blog is something that I immediately bookmarked and have gone back to several times. I wanted to share it with you.
Bronnie Ware, the author of the post, says that she worked for many years with clients who had gone home to die. And she wrote about the 5 biggest regrets that she heard about when those clients reflected on their lives:
- I wish I'd had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.
- I wish I didn't work so hard.
- I wish I'd had the courage to express my feelings.
- I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.
- I wish that I had let myself be happier.
I encourage you to read the entire post where Ms. Ware elaborates on each of these. It's given me a lot to think about in terms of how I live my life and the things I do (and don't do).
What change can you make in your life today to eliminate at least one regret you would have about how you lived your life?
Ha ha ... I think I know how you found that blog post. Me! I blogged about it in my Favorite Things for 2010. (And it's good to be reading your blog again. I lost all of my bookmarks and for the life of me couldn't find it on Google.)
